French League

The French League, officially known as Ligue 1, is the top professional football (soccer) division in France. Established in 1933, it is contested by 20 teams and operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the lower division, Ligue 2. The league is known for its competitive nature, showcasing some of the top football clubs in France, including Paris Saint-Germain, Olympique de Marseille, and AS Monaco.

Clubs compete in a round-robin format, where each team plays the others twice, once at home and once away. Points are awarded based on match results: three points for a win, one point for a draw, and none for a loss. The team with the most points at the end of the season is crowned the champion. The French League is part of the larger structure of European football, and its top teams have the opportunity to participate in continental competitions such as the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League. The league is recognized for its emphasis on developing young talent and has produced many notable players who have gone on to achieve success both domestically and internationally.
