Baseball

Baseball is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of nine players each. The objective is for one team to score runs by hitting a ball thrown by the opposing team’s pitcher and then running around a series of bases arranged in a diamond shape. The game is played on a field with four bases, with home plate, first base, second base, and third base forming the diamond. The team in the field aims to get the batters out by catching batted balls, throwing the ball to bases ahead of runners, or striking them out.

A baseball game typically consists of nine innings, where each team takes turns batting and fielding. Runs are scored when a player successfully reaches home plate after touching all four bases.

Baseball is known for its specific terminology, rules, and statistics and is often referred to as “America’s pastime,” reflecting its popularity and cultural significance, particularly in the United States. The sport has various levels, from amateur play to professional leagues such as Major League Baseball (MLB), and is also played internationally. It incorporates elements of strategy, teamwork, and individual skill, making it a complex and engaging sport.
